Because Truro depends primarily on volunteer personnel in the event of a fire or rescue, private vehicles are used when responding to these calls. Most are equipped with a red light and/or siren. We urge you to use caution and be considerate if you should encounter one of these vehicles on the road.

January 2015 Blizzard Event

Weather reports indicate a strong costal storm will affect Truro and all of Cape Cod beginning this evening, Monday January 26, 2015 and may last into Wednesday January 28, 2015.  Residents are reminded to call the Truro Police or Fire Departments with any concerns.  Please see the following information which may be helpful during the Storm.

Truro Non-Emergency Offices and Departments will be closed Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Truro Transfer Station will be closed Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Truro Central School will be closed Tuesday, January 27, 2015 and a two hour delayed opening will be in effect, Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

For power outages and power line issues, we strongly urge people to stay away from all down wires and to report them to NStar and local emergency officials.  We encourage customers whose electric service is affected to call NStar at 1-800-592-2000.  If your power is out, and you have called NStar, call back every 8 to 10 hours until power is restored.  If others in your neighborhood are without power, have them call too.

The Governor of Massachusetts has ordered a Statewide Motor Vehicle Travel Ban, with exceptions, effective at midnight tonight (12 AM Tuesday).

The Truro Public Safety Facility is available as a warming site as well as a place to charge your cell phones.  We will transport you to the Safety Facility if you need to come.

The Provincetown / Truro Regional Shelter MAY open tomorrow based upon demand and power losses within our community.  If you are without power, heat and/or other essentials, we will transport you and your pets if needed, to the Shelter. Calling us ahead of time helps us in planning to help assist you.  Again, we will transport you and your pets if needed, to the Shelter.

Truro Police and Fire Department number is 508-487-8730
